Dr. G. “Dock” Dockery graduated as valedictorian of his class with top honors from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. He did a surgical residency in foot and ankle surgery at the Waldo Podiatric Surgical Residency Program in Seattle and graduated with honors. He is the founder of the International Foot & Ankle Foundation for Education and Research, and is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director of Scientific Affairs of this organization.

Dr. Dockery is a Fellow and Past Board of Directors of the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Foot & Ankle Pediatrics, the American Society of Foot & Ankle Dermatology and the American College of Podiatric Medicine. He is Board Certified in Foot and Ankle Surgery by the American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery and is Board Certified in Podiatric Medicine.

Dr. Dockery was the Director of Medical Education and Residency Training of the Waldo Podiatric Surgical Residency Program for many years and still maintains a close relationship with the current Swedish Podiatric Surgical Residency, Providence Hospital Campus, in Seattle. He has authored several textbooks including: Color Atlas and Text of Forefoot Surgery (Mosby 1992); Cutaneous Disorders of the Lower Extremity (WB Saunders 1997); Color Atlas of Foot & Ankle Dermatology (Lippincott 1999); Lower Extremity Soft Tissue & Cutaneous Plastic Surgery (Elsevier 2006) and, Lower Extremity Soft Tissue & Cutaneous Plastic Surgery, Second Edition, (Elsevier 2012). He has also authored numerous scientific articles in peer-reviewed medical journals and other publications.

Dr. Dockery is the team leader for the Seattle Medical Team, composed of two surgeons and two residents, for the Yucatan Crippled Children’s Project, which goes to the Yucatan twice a year to work with the surgeons and staff from the Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine and the Orthopedic Red Cross Hospital in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico.

Dr. Dockery is a nationally and internationally known lecturer and continues to travel extensively throughout the world more than 20 times per year to scientific seminars to present his diagnostic and surgical techniques, teach plastic surgery techniques in workshops and to speak on medical topics regarding the lower extremities.

Dr. Craig E. Clifford graduated from Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in 2009. He completed his three-year podiatric and medical surgical residency at Franciscan Health System in Federal Way, WA. Dr. Clifford is actively involved with the Yucatan Crippled Children’s Project, which goes to the Yucatan twice a year to work with the surgeons and staff from the Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine and the Orthopedic Red Cross Hospital in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico.

Dr. Clifford is currently in practice in Silverdale, WA. He is on the Residency Training Committee and is the Past Director of Research at Franciscan Foot and Ankle Institute, St. Francis Hospital Residency Program. He is currently the Editor for the Journal of the International Foot & Ankle Foundation.

Dr. Mary E. Crawford graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine in 1988 (now Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine). She completed a surgical residency program in foot and ankle surgery at Waldo General Hospital, Seattle, WA., in 1990 and began private practice at the Ankle & Foot Clinic of Everett.

Dr. Crawford is Board Certified in Foot and Ankle and Reconstructive Rearfoot Surgery by the American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery and specializes in pediatric lower extremity reconstruction as a Fellow of the American College of Foot & Ankle Pediatrics. She has special interest in plastic surgery and dermatology as well as complex foot reconstruction.

Dr. Crawford is a Fellow and Past Board of Directors and Past President of the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons and is a regular lecturer at the Annual Scientific Conference. She is an author of several peer-reviewed scientific papers and textbooks on dermatology and plastic surgery of the foot and ankle.

Her outside special interests are in the health and welfare of dogs and she serves as a Volunteer at the Everett Animal Shelter weekly. Her favorite pastime is traveling with her husband, lecturing and teaching nationally and internationally and walking her puppy with her favorite cup of coffee.

Douglas S. Hale

Dr. Douglas Hale graduated with honors from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA, with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He graduated with honors as well from the Dr. William Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in 1989 and completed a surgical residency in Reconstructive Foot & Ankle Surgery at Waldo General Hospital in Seattle. He did additional training with Dr Sigvard Hansen at Harborview Medical Center. After graduation he began private practice in Seattle, WA in 1991.

Dr. Hale completed board certification in Podiatric Orthopedics and Primary Podiatric Medicine by the American Board of Podiatric Orthopedics and Primary Podiatric Medicine. He is Board Certified in Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.

Dr. Hale has been actively involved in various positions in the Swedish Foot and Ankle Residency Program since 1991, serving as the Residency Director for over 10 years.  He had other roles at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, such as elected Chief of Podiatry Staff, and volunteer member of the Quality Assurance Committee. He has authored papers and received multiple teaching awards. He has given multiple lectures, including the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons Annual Conference.

Dr. Hale grew up in Florida and his outside interests include boating, kayaking and travel.

Daniel J. Hatch

Dr. Daniel J Hatch graduated from the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine (now Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University) and completed his surgical residency at Highland Center in Denver Colorado. Thereafter, he began his private practice in Greeley Colorado.

Dr. Hatch is board certified in foot and ankle surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He also is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine. He is a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and served as president of ACFAS from 2007-2008. He serves on the case review committee for the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. His special interests include reconstructive foot and ankle surgery and pediatric clubfoot.

Dr. Hatch has authored papers in peer reviewed journals and chapters in textbooks on foot and ankle surgery. He travels twice a year to the Yucatan Crippled Children’s project taking his surgical residents from the North Colorado Podiatric Surgical Residency. He has served on the advisory board for the International Foot and Ankle Foundation and has been an Industry liaison for the organization.

His outside interests include cycling, photography and enjoying the outdoors.

Dr. Hutchinson graduated from the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco, CA, in 1982. He completed a surgical residency in Reconstructive Foot & Ankle Surgery at Waldo General Hospital in Seattle and graduated in 1984, and began private practice in Burien, WA.

Dr. Hutchinson is Board Certified in Foot & Ankle Surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and specialized in lower extremity reconstructive surgery. He has special interest in complex foot, ankle and leg conditions and has undergone extensive training in the management of these conditions.

Dr. Hutchinson is a Fellow and Past Board of Directors of the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons and is a regular lecturer at the Annual Scientific Conference. He is an author of several peer-reviewed scientific papers and chapters in textbooks on foot and ankle surgery.

He is currently the Medical Director of Foot & Ankle Services at CHI/Franciscan Health and currently serves as the Fellowship Director. He travels twice a year to the Yucatan Crippled Children Project taking residents from the CHI/Franciscan and Swedish Residency program to work with the staff and residents from the Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine and the Orthopedic Red Cross Hospital in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico.

Dr. Stephen A. Mariash graduated from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in 1988 (now Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine). He completed a surgical residency program in foot and ankle surgery at Atlanta Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia in 1991.

Dr. Mariash is currently in private practice at St. Cloud Orthopedics in Sartell, Minnesota and is Board Certified in Foot and Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery by the American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery.

Dr. Mariash is a Fellow of the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons. He is former Chief of Staff at the St. Cloud Surgical Center and has served as physician volunteer at the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia.

Dr. Mariash has served on the St. Cloud Hospital Education Committee and has lectured throughout the country. He is a faculty member of the American Academy of Foot and Ankle Osteosynthesis.

Dr. Nilson graduated from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1983. He completed a residency in foot and ankle surgery in Windom, MN. He has been in private practice at the Seattle Foot & Ankle Clinic in Seattle, WA, since 1984.

Dr. Nilson is former Chief of Podiatry Staff at the Fifth Avenue Hospital and is currently the Chairman of the Board of the Waldo Medical Foundation. Dr. Mallory Schweitzer graduated from Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery and completed her surgical residency at Franciscan Health System in Federal Way, WA. She also completed the CHI Franciscan Health Advanced Foot and Ankle Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship in Burien, WA. She currently practices in Tacoma, WA.

Dr. Schweitzer is actively involved in residency training at the Franciscan Foot and Ankle Institute and is Assistant Director of the Virginia Mason Franciscan Health Advanced Foot and Ankle Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship. Dr. Schweitzer enjoys lecturing and participating in the education of young practitioners.

Ms. Carter joined International Foot & Ankle Foundation for Education and Research in February 1998, where she currently serves as the Director of Marketing and Administration. She had previously served as a Director of Development with WALDO Medical Foundation since 1996. Prior to her role in the non-profit medical industry, Tresha was the Promotion Director for KIRO/KSEA FM Radio in Seattle. She obtained her Bachelors of Arts degree in Marketing and Broadcast/Media Sales from Brigham Young University.

Lindsay Dockery joined the International Foot and Ankle Foundation in August 2022.  She previously worked as a Litigation Paralegal for over 15 years and a Design Consultant with California Closets for 7 years.  Most recently, Lindsay has stayed home with her two young daughters.

Her outside interests include reading, interior design, walking her dog, and any adventure that includes her husband and daughters.

Gerald T. Kuwada

Dr. Kuwada graduated from the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco, CA., in 1976. He completed a surgical residency in foot and ankle surgery in Philadelphia and graduated in 1977. He began private practice in Seattle, WA, and had recently retired from clinical practice in Renton, WA.

Dr. Kuwada was the co-founder of the International Foot & Ankle Foundation for Education and Research. He was Board Certified in Foot and Ankle Surgery by the American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery as well as many other professional associations.

Dr Kuwada served as Assistant Residency Director of the Waldo Podiatric Surgical Residency Program in Seattle, and the Director and Founder of Podiatric Education and Residency Training for many years at the Greenriver Residency Program. He authored numerous scientific and medical journals and had written 13 books on meditation and self-help topics. He taught martial arts, meditation and other self-help techniques to many.

We mourn the passing of this great physician and thought-leader. Dr. Kuwada was a member of the NWPF/IFAF board of directors since its inception and an educator and mentor to foot and ankle practitioners everywhere.
